My Auto Door is buzzing/ beeping. What can I do?

Check to ensure the power supply to auto door operator is ON. Check the EDR (Emergency Door Release) switch to ensure it hasn't been activated. If activated, use a small screwdriver to reset the EDR. If the beeping is coming from the auto operator unit call us on 0800 377787 and we'll be there to fix it.

Why won’t my door close?

Safety sensors will prevent doors closing when they detect an object. Check area between open doors, clear all objects, clean safety eyes at waist and ankle height on door frame uprights.

Why is my door is moving slowly?

During the reset process the doors operate slowly as they re-learn open/close motion; this reset process should NOT be interrupted.

Can I upgrade my entrance from manual swing doors to Automatic Doors?

Yes. Often this requires the shopfront sidelights and doors be upgraded also. All automatic door systems need to be added to the Building Compliance Schedule which is the responsibility of the building owner. Contact us for a free appraisal and quotation.

Who is Responsible for BWoF compliance?

The building owner is responsible under the Building Act 2004.

How do I get a form 12A for building compliance (BWOF)?

Auto doors are a specified system under the Building Act and require regular maintenance every 3-4 months. Then each year prior to BWoF renewal, our registered IQP (Independent Qualified Person) will assess doors and issue a Certificate of Compliance: 12A SS3.1 for auto doors and 12A SS3.2 for access-controlled doors.

Do I need to advise the council when installing an automatic door?

If you are upgrading/replacing an existing auto door already on the Buildings Compliance Schedule, then you do not need to advise Council. All new automatic door systems need to be added to the Building Compliance Schedule which is the responsibility of the building owner who needs to contact the Council.

Are Automatic Doors lockable and secure?

Yes. Most are electronic locking via the motor however, some older doors may not have electronic locking capability. Often, they will instead have manual locking functionality. Some internal auto doors do not need any locking function.

What on-going preventative maintenance do I need for an Automatic Door?

Our manufacturers expect preventative maintenance by a door technician every 3 months (4 months for low use doors), this is required to qualify the warranty and fits into the Building Act/BWoF requirements so an IQP can issue the 12A compliance certificate each year.

Will my Automatic Door still work if there’s a power failure?

Yes, all auto doors are required to have 24/7 uninterrupted UPS battery back-up packs installed. NOTE: the battery will only operate the doors for about 200 cycles or 24 hours for low use doors.
